A. DODD-FRANK ACT: AGENCY REORGANIZATION, CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND SECURITIES PROVISIONS
This month BCG will begin a series of telephone briefings on the Dodd-Frank Act, the most significant banking reform legislation since the 1930’s. Some provisions of the Act take effect immediately, but many other sections will be phased in over time and subject to the development of many new regulations. BCG will be monitoring these developments and supporting our members in a variety of ways. To best serve our BCG members, we will provide three separate telephone briefings in August, September and October, covering various aspects of the Act.
At the August BCG Telephone Briefing, we will cover the agency reorganization, corporate governance, and securities provisions of the Act that are most likely to affect insured depository institutions. In this regard, we will provide a summary of Title I (Financial Stability Oversight Council), Title III (Transfer Powers of Agencies), Title VI (Improvements to Regulation of Bank and Savings Association Holding Companies and Depository Institutions), Title VII (Regulation of OTC Swaps Markets as to banking institutions), and Title IX (Corporate Governance and Executive Compensation Aspects only). A detailed handout will be provided. We will also cover effective dates and focus on immediate impacts.
