DODD-FRANK ACT: AGENCY REORGANIZATION, REGULATORY IMPROVEMENT, CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND SECURITIES PROVISIONS
The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (the “Reform Act” or “Act”) was signed into law by President Obama July 21, 2010 (the “Date of Enactment”). This Act will implement the most significant financial regulatory reforms since the Great Depression. This publication summarizes the most notable provisions of the Act affecting insured depository institutions regarding the reorganization of the banking agencies, regulatory improvement, and corporate governance and securities laws.
Some provisions of the Reform Act take effect immediately, but other sections will be phased in over time and subject to the development of many new regulations. Unless otherwise stated in this handout, all provisions will take effect one day after the Date of Enactment.
